Jenner & Block To Investigate Alec Baldwin Shooting

Jenner & Block Hired To Investigate Alec Baldwin’s Accidental But Fatal Shooting Of Halyna Hutchins

The producers of the film “Rust” have hired American law firm Jenner & Block to lead an investigation into the accidental on-set shooting that killed the film’s cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

In a letter seen by Reuters, which was sent to cast and crew on Tuesday night, the producers of “Rust” said that Jenner & Block will have full discretion about who to interview. The investigation is set to be led by attorney Brandon Fox, the managing partner of the firm’s LA office.

The film’s production team also said that it is cooperating with the authorities investigating the fatal shooting that occurred last Thursday on-set in New Mexico. Actor Alec Baldwin accidentally shot dead cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with a prop gun, and injured the film’s director Joel Souza.

Following the incident, Baldwin posted on social media saying that he was in shock. He said, “My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”

Jenner & Block was brought in to investigate the incident by Rust Movie Productions LLC, which includes producers Alec Baldwin, Nathan Klingher, Ryan Donnell Smith, Ryan Winterstern, Matt DelPiano and Anjul Nigam. Jenner & Block will observe interviews between members of the crew and the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration. According to the letter seen by Reuters, this is standard practice for the agency to investigate deaths in the workplace.
