Hamilton Locke advised Pollination on the transaction. The new partnership between the two firms is expected to help ANZ address the transitional needs of its institutional clients in relation to sustainable finance, project and export finance, carbon markets and corporate advisory. ANZ group executive institutional Mark Whelan cited Pollination’s strong climate finance expertise as one of the benefits of the investment. “This partnership also underpins ANZ’s strategy to support customers in the transition to net zero, while helping cement our position as a leading Environmental Sustainability bank in the region,” he added. Pollination is a climate finance firm that was founded in 2019 and now comprises more than 120 experts with operations across 13 countries. Its team has played a significant role in decarbonisation and nature solutions, including in the development of the Paris Agreement and key negotiating coalitions to the UNFCCC, and members have worked on the leadership teams of Australia’s national green finance and climate innovation institutions such as Arena and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC).
