Ulf will be joining the firm from PwC, where he headed the Frankfurt Transfer Pricing Group since 2015 and also the German Financial Services Transfer Pricing Group since 2013. He previously spent more than 11 years with another big four firm in Germany. Ulf will be joined by counsel Thomas Gericke and associate Thore Holtrichter. Ulf has substantial experience in serving multinational groups of companies in structuring their cross-border activities, assisting with the implementation of such structures in particular in post-merger integration settings, evaluating the tax accounting impact, and defending these structures in tax audits. He has particular experience in transfer pricing controversy situations, and with respect to the taxation of permanent establishments and financial services transfer pricing. Amna will serve in the firm’s leading antitrust, competition, and trade practice. Her addition expands Freshfields’ regulatory offering in the United States to include regulatory compliance counselling, enforcement defence, commercial aviation transactions and litigation in the aviation, aerospace, and transportation sectors. As a senior enforcement attorney at the US Department of Transportation for six years, Amna was at the forefront of US transportation regulatory efforts, drafting federal regulations and guidance materials, leading investigations of domestic and foreign airlines, and enforcing federal regulations. Amna also has several years of experience at top US Am Law 100 firms advising all types of global transportation clients – from major U.S. and foreign air carriers, to transportation start-ups, as well as Fortune 100 companies – in a variety of domestic and international transportation regulatory matters.
