With June commemorating the Stonewall riots and the strong movements the LGBT+ community have made in society over the years, we thought it was of utmost importance to address their rights. Your workplace is the last place you would expect to be discriminated against, but unfortunately, it still happens to this date, especially to those in the LGBT+ community. Thus, we have decided to address this topic. Speaking to employment lawyer Steven Fingerhut, he explains the rights anyone from the LGBT+ community has and the laws which protect them in the workplace. With different states across the US having mixed opinions towards facial recognition technology, with some arguing it violates the publics’ privacy, I decided to explore whether or not this technology breaches human rights and privacy. Further to this, we also touch on every lawyer’s favourite topic: GDPR. We hear from expert Luca Daffra on whether it is legally sound to use social media to perform checks on your potentially new employee. We hope you enjoy all the content in this month’s edition! See you next month. A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR
