66-Year-Old Woman Raped at Gunpoint in Miami-Dade Home; Suspect Arrested.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 25-year-old man, Larry James Grant-Rogers, was arrested earlier this week after allegedly raping a 66-year-old woman inside her Miami-Dade County home. The violent crime took place around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, with the suspect using a firearm during the assault.

The Disturbing Attack

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, the victim had been attending to her garden outside her home before heading inside to take a shower. While she was in the bathroom, completely naked, Grant-Rogers reportedly appeared "out of nowhere" and grabbed her from behind. He pointed a black pistol at her face multiple times, demanding she comply with his demands.

Despite the woman's pleas for him to stop, telling him she was sick, Grant-Rogers forced her into her bedroom and raped her. The victim struggled throughout the assault, but her efforts to get him to stop were unsuccessful.

Afterwards, Grant-Rogers bound the woman’s hands and feet before moving her to the bathroom. He then called his sister to pick him up from the scene. It was this call that led to his eventual arrest. His sister, upon learning of the incident, called authorities to report what had happened and provided the victim’s address.

Arrest and Investigation

Deputies responded quickly, and Grant-Rogers was arrested the same day. Authorities did not confirm whether the suspect and the victim had any prior relationship. However, the suspect’s sister confirmed the address after Grant-Rogers provided it to her.

A black pistol was recovered inside the victim's home, confirming the weapon was used in the crime.

Larry James Grant-Rogers, of Miami, was arrested and charged with armed sexual battery, armed burglary, and armed kidnapping. As of Friday morning, Grant-Rogers remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, being held without bond.

Authorities’ Response

This horrific crime has led to a swift response from law enforcement. Authorities have not released any additional details about the relationship between the victim and the suspect. However, the suspect’s sister’s cooperation played a key role in helping deputies locate and arrest Grant-Rogers.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crime, while Grant-Rogers faces serious charges that could result in significant legal consequences.

Legal and Criminal Implications

Grant-Rogers faces multiple charges, including armed sexual battery and armed kidnapping. The use of a firearm during the crime adds an additional layer of severity to the case. The charges are among the most serious that can be levied in Florida.

Conclusion

This disturbing crime has left the victim, a 66-year-old woman, shaken and traumatized. Authorities continue their investigation into the case, and law enforcement officials are working to ensure that justice is served. Thanks to the quick thinking of the suspect's sister, Grant-Rogers was arrested swiftly, and his actions are now under scrutiny.
