MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 25-year-old man, Larry James Grant-Rogers, was arrested earlier this week after allegedly raping a 66-year-old woman inside her Miami-Dade County home. The violent crime took place around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, with the suspect using a firearm during the assault.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, the victim had been attending to her garden outside her home before heading inside to take a shower. While she was in the bathroom, completely naked, Grant-Rogers reportedly appeared "out of nowhere" and grabbed her from behind. He pointed a black pistol at her face multiple times, demanding she comply with his demands.
Despite the woman's pleas for him to stop, telling him she was sick, Grant-Rogers forced her into her bedroom and raped her. The victim struggled throughout the assault, but her efforts to get him to stop were unsuccessful.
Afterwards, Grant-Rogers bound the woman’s hands and feet before moving her to the bathroom. He then called his sister to pick him up from the scene. It was this call that led to his eventual arrest. His sister, upon learning of the incident, called authorities to report what had happened and provided the victim’s address.
Deputies responded quickly, and Grant-Rogers was arrested the same day. Authorities did not confirm whether the suspect and the victim had any prior relationship. However, the suspect’s sister confirmed the address after Grant-Rogers provided it to her.
