Trump Organization Wins Golf Course Contract Suit

On Friday, Donald Trump’s company won a lawsuit against New York City over its cancellation of a golf course contract. The contract was cancelled after the former US president’s supporters stormed the US Capitol in January 2021.

The lawsuit, which was filed last June, claimed that the contract was improperly terminated by Bill De Blasio’s administration. The Trump Organization has managed the Trump Golf Links in the Bronx borough of the city since it opened back in 2015.

New York City said that Trump had had a role in inciting the Capitol Riots of January 2021 and that such actions compromised the golf course’s ability to attract “first-class professional championship golf tournaments.”

However, in a decision made on Friday in the New York State Supreme Court, Justice Debra James said that the contract did not require the golf course’s operator to attract professional golf tournaments. James relinquished a New York City ruling upholding the contract’s cancellation.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the New York City Law Department said, “We are disappointed in the Court’s decision, and we are reviewing our legal options.”
