Paraguay Places Bonds for $500.6 Million in the International Market

Parquet & Asociados advised the Republic of Paraguay in the sovereign bond issuance of $500.6 million at 3.849% rate.

Parquet & Asociados advised the Republic of Paraguay in the sovereign bond issuance of $500.6 million at 3.849% rate. The bonds, which are due 2033, have been admitted to trading on the Euro MTF Market of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. The offering was launched and priced on 20 January 2022 and closed on 28 January 2022.

At the same time as the bond offering, Paraguay launched a concurrent offer to purchase for cash certain outstanding bonds of Paraguay for cash. The offer was launched on 20 January 2022 and expired on the same day, later to be settled on 26 January 2022.

A portion of the net proceeds of the bonds sale was used by Paraguay to pay the purchase price of outstanding bonds that were accepted as part of the offer to purchase. The remaining proceeds will partially finance measures intended to support employment and economic activity and to protect vulnerable sectors through Paraguay’s social safety net, and will also be used for general purposes of the government, including financial investment.

Gross Brown Law Firm advised Citigroup Global Markets Inc and Goldman Sachs & Co LLC as initial purchasers in the Republic of Paraguay’s issuance.
