Ginger Ray Has Been Acquired by Amscan International

Milton Keynes-based Amscan International – a global designer, manufacturer, distributor and retailer of party products and supplies – has acquired Ginger Ray, a leading celebrations brand, in a move that Amscan calls an important step in its growth plans.

The Ginger Ray product range is stocked by over 600 retailers worldwide. It is expected that its acquisition by Amscan International will enable the brand to benefit from its extensive global network and access to expanded eCommerce and supply chain capabilities. Ginger Ray will continue to operate under its own trading name, while its existing team will continue in their current roles. The acquisition of Ginger Ray is Amscan International’s second transaction since its January 2021 management buy-out.

The M&A team at Bates Wells advised Ginger Ray managing director Ben Spence on the sale of the UK and US companies comprising the Ginger Ray business. The team was led by experienced international M&A partner Mark Tasker, head of the Bates Wells M&A team. He was supported by corporate associate Tom Boersma and data protection specialist Victoria Hordern (partner) and her team, who led on the key data protection issues relevant to the transaction. The wider M&A team included the experienced technology/commercial, employment and real estate teams. Ginger Ray was also advised by MHA.

“It was a pleasure to work with Ben and his excellent team at Ginger Ray,” Tasker said. “We worked around the clock at times to reach completion alongside Ben’s corporate finance team at MHA. Ben has created a fabulous business and we wish him enormous success in the future.”

Amscan International was advised by Squire Patton Boggs and Deloitte.
