PLMJ was the legal adviser to Clever Leaves in the licensing process with INFARMED for the cultivation, sale and export of medical cannabis from Portugal.
The license marks the beginning of Clever Leaves' cultivation activities in Europe, as well as the ability to produce, market and export dried medicinal cannabis flower. The Clever Leaves unit in Portugal is located on a property of about 850,000 m2 and has 10,000 m2 of greenhouse cultivation.
Clever Leaves is a multinational company dedicated to the production and commercialization of medicinal cannabis, focusing on ecologically sustainable and large-scale cultivation and pharmaceutical processing, with a presence in Canada, Colombia, Germany, Portugal and the United States.
PLMJ's assistance involved a multidisciplinary team, under the coordination of the Public and Technology, Mobility and Communications Partner, Pedro Lomba, with lawyers Alexander Ehlert and Pedro Gaspar de Silva (Corporate), Filipe Abreu (Tax), Sofia Coutinho and Filipa Vicente Silva (Real Estate) and Nuno Ferreira Morgado and Mariana Paiva (Laboral).
