DLA PIPER APPOINTS TWO PARTNERS TO SUPPORT SCOTTISH GROWTH
Posted on: 12 June 2012
DLA Piper has appointed two new partners to support the firm’s continued growth in Scotland. Alistair Drummond joins the Litigation and Regulatory group and Callum Sinclair has been promoted to partner in the Intellectual Property and Technology group.
With more than 19 years' experience in the Scottish market, Alistair joins DLA Piper in Edinburgh from Biggart Baillie where he was a partner in the firm’s Dispute Management practice. Alistair focuses on all aspects of commercial litigation and dispute resolution with a particular specialism in property and commercial lease disputes. He is noted for 'his impressive depth of experience' in the current edition of Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession. As Head of Biggart Baillie’s Property Dispute Management Unit, Alistair developed a close network of administrators and other Insolvency Practitioners in relation to property disputes which arise upon corporate insolvency.
Headed by Hazel Moffat, DLA Piper's successful and rapidly growing Scottish Litigation and Regulatory team acts for a significant number of Scottish based companies, institutions and public bodies as well as an impressive portfolio of international clients.
Callum Sinclair has been promoted from legal director to partner in the Intellectual Property and Technology group in DLA Piper’s Glasgow office. Callum has over 10 years' experience in information technology, intellectual property and commercial contract work. In recent years, Callum has played a trusted lead adviser role in business critical ICT and business process transformation programmes with a value exceeding £1,000m including a series of pioneering shared services projects for the Northern Ireland Civil Service.
The firm’s market leading IPT practice is headed by John McKinlay and advises on all aspects of intellectual property and technology law, providing practical and commercial advice to both private and public sector clients. The team is ranked Tier 1 for Information Technology by Chambers.
Commenting on Alistair's appointment, Simon Rae, DLA Piper's Managing Partner for Scotland, said: "we are delighted that Alistair is joining our Litigation and Regulatory team. He is a talented lawyer with particularly strong expertise in commercial property disputes, allowing us to offer another specialist service to our clients.”
Alistair added: "DLA Piper has established an impressive reputation within the Scottish market, so I’m excited by the challenge of helping the team continue to grow its business north of the border. I look forward to bringing a fresh perspective and a different area of expertise to the Litigation and Regulatory team, which already has an enviable track record and an impressive client portfolio."
Commenting upon Callum Sinclair’s promotion, Simon Rae added: “Callum is well deserving of his promotion to partner. Having started his career with us as a trainee, Callum has built up a wealth of expertise and his appointment as partner will complement an already strong team with an excellent reputation and top tier ranking in the marketplace.”
