International law firm Olswang has announced that Barry Stimpson has joined the firm as a corporate partner in its London office. Barry is a specialist funds lawyer and further strengthens Olswang’s unique real estate, private equity and technology funds offering.
Previously a Partner at DAC Beachcroft, Barry advises funds and fund managers on their establishment, structures, investment and regulatory issues. His clients include onshore and offshore, private and retail funds.
Barry acts for fund managers, law and accountancy firms regarding LLP matters. He advised Grant Thornton on its merger with RSM Robson Rhodes, the first significant LLP merger under English law, and DAC on its merger with Beachcroft.
Barry’s career has included working as an investment banker at UBS. He therefore understands transactions from the financial as well as the legal point of view.
Fabrizio Carpanini, Head of Olswang’s International Corporate Group, commented: “Funds and club deals are an increasingly common way of structuring acquisitions, especially in the real estate sector. Barry combines experience in corporate, real estate and TMT, making him the best person to support our sector strategy. He will support our international team on any funds related work, including IPOs, listed funds, launching and advising private funds and retail funds.”
Commenting on his decision to move to Olswang, Barry said: “I believe that Olswang’s strong corporate, private equity, real estate and tax offering will provide a great platform for my practice and I’m excited to be joining the team.”
