Tax specialist joins Gillespie Macandrew

Gillespie Macandrew LLP, with offices in Edinburgh and Perth, has appointed Gordon Foster as an Associate in its Private Client Tax Team.
Gordon Foster has specialised in advising clients on tax related issues since he qualified as a solicitor with MacRoberts in Edinburgh. He subsequently worked with Dundas & Wilson for seven years, spending five of those in London, and most recently ran his own practice in East Lothian.
John MacArthur, who heads the Private Client Tax Team, states: “Gordon’s experience will dovetail extremely well with our other team members’ skills. He has considerable knowledge of advising clients on corporate taxation, Stamp Duty Land Tax (soon to be replaced by Land and Buildings Transaction Tax in Scotland) and real estate taxation issues and, in particular, this will help us to continue developing our portfolio of work assisting family and entrepreneurial businesses.
“Having worked in London, Gordon understands the sort of issues that can arise in cross-border work and the fact he operated his own practice means he understands the issues facing owner-managed businesses.”
Gordon Foster comments: “I am delighted to be joining a progressive firm which advises a broad range of clients on tax-related matters, from inheritance tax and succession issues to complex land and commercial transactions. I look forward to working with John and the rest of the team and further expanding my involvement across the spectrum of private client advisory work.”
