Sackers boosts finance and investment group

17 Jan, 2014

Sackers, the UK’s leading law firm for pension scheme trustees and sponsors, has strengthened the finance and investment group with the appointment of Sebastian Reger, a senior derivatives lawyer, as an associate director.

Sebastian was previously at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer for more than nine years where he focused on structured finance transactions and advised on a wide range of structured products and derivatives, acting for both financial institutions and corporates.

At Sackers, he will be part of the finance and investment group which is the focus of the firm’s expertise for finance and investment-related legal advice required by pension schemes as institutional investors. His arrival follows the recent promotion of banking and finance lawyer Vicky Carr to partner in August 2013 and coincides with the promotion of investment lawyer Ian D’Costa to associate director.

Ian has been at Sackers since 2007 and has a wide range of investment experience advising both private and public sector pension schemes on investment issues including the use of alternative investments such as infrastructure and hedge funds. He recently advised on a £1 billion longevity swap contract for Carillion (DB) Pension Trustee Limited.

Paul Phillips, head of Sackers’ finance and investment group, says: “Sebastian’s arrival and Ian’s promotion demonstrate our commitment to offering the very best advice and service to our expanding client base. The growth of our finance and investment capabilities is a direct response to increasing demand from our pension fund clients for complex and innovative investment structures and investment-related legal advice.”
