King & Wood Mallesons SJ Berwin bolsters Luxembourg office with two senior hires

King & Wood Mallesons SJ Berwin continues to expand its capabilities in Luxembourg, with the hire of two experts in the Funds and Corporate practices.
Thomas Chevalier was appointed as Counsel in the International Funds practice. He previously worked in the UK as an investment director and legal counsel for one of Europe’s leading private equity fund of funds, where he was responsible for fund structuring, investor negotiations, legal advice on primary, secondary and direct investments and obtaining AIFMD authorisation as one of the first UK-based AIFMs. Prior to this, Thomas worked for over 6 years at Clifford Chance and Linklaters. He is qualified in both Belgium and in the State of New York (USA) and he is admitted to the “Liste IV” of the Luxembourg Bar. Thomas is a graduate of Ghent University in Belgium, and holds an LLM from New York University School of Law as well as an MBA from INSEAD.
Bertrand Geradin will also join our office on 6 December as Counsel in the Corporate team. Bertrand specialises in M&A transactions, spin-offs, exit strategies and joint ventures, with over 13 years of experience working as a lawyer qualified in Brussels and Luxembourg. He is also a solicitor (England & Wales) since 2006 and was, prior to joining us, Counsel at Allen & Overy in Luxembourg. Bertrand is a graduate from UCL (Belgium), and Solvay Business School (Master in Tax).
