25 Nov, 2013

Hunton & Williams announces the promotion of Kirk A. Lovrić to partner. Dr. Lovrić has more than 20 years of experience focusing on transport and energy infrastructure projects, including public-private partnerships (PPP), independent power projects (IPPs), and oil and gas project finance transactions in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Russia.

“Investment is growing in Central and Eastern Europe as the region works to modernise its infrastructure. Kirk has distinguished himself for his work on energy and infrastructure projects in the CEE and plays an essential role in guiding our clients through these transactions,” says Bridget Treacy, managing partner of Hunton & Williams’ London office, where Dr. Lovrić is based.

Among Dr. Lovrić’s notable projects are: advising Hrvatska Elektroprivreda on the €800 million Plomin C 500MW power plant in Croatia; representing the Republic of Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina) on the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of the €400 million PPP 5C motorway project; representing the Slovak Republic on the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of the €3.1 billion D1 Motorway; and advising the Republic of Croatia on the €350 million Zagreb Airport PPP project. Dr. Lovrić is also advising the Croatian government on the development of natural-gas pipelines, such as the South Stream and the New European Transmission System (NETS), which will unite Central and South Eastern Europe’s transmission networks by creating a common gas transmission system operator.

Dr. Lovrić adds, “Central and Eastern Europe is in desperate need of new infrastructure in the transport and energy sectors, particularly to meet the demand for new power plants. Optimism in these markets is high and growing at a fast pace, making them an enticing platform for investment, partnering and development of new power generation facilities.”
