Research from Epiq Systems reveals key trends in litigation and eDisclosure
01 Feb, 2013
Epiq Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:EPIQ), a leading provider of managed technology for the global legal profession, has released new findings from a benchmark report investigating key litigation and eDisclosure trends.
Major law firms and companies in France, Germany, Switzerland and the UK were asked to give their view on likely litigation and eDisclosure trends over the next two years.
The majority of law firms surveyed (81 percent) expect the cost of eDisclosure activity to increase, a view shared by 44 percent of corporates. It is also anticipated that technology will play a greater role in eDisclosure, with 92 percent of law firms and 75 percent of corporates saying that they expect an increase in the use of technology assisted review.
Commenting on the findings, Greg Wildisen (pictured), International Managing Director, Epiq Systems said “As data volumes continue to increase, it is crucial that law firms and companies implement proportionate and efficient strategies in preparation for litigation and regulatory investigations. Failure to be adequately prepared can further increase the expense of the eDisclosure process, and lead to inefficient and ineffective responses to legal requests.
“The report findings encourage teams within legal organisations and businesses to acquire a greater understanding of the benefits of investing in appropriate solutions which help to streamline eDisclosure, mitigate potential risks through improved data disclosure, and reduce the time spent on disclosure and review activity.”
