Harrisons Business Recovery & Insolvency and Blue Gate Capital appointed administrators to Calibre Solicitors
26 Feb, 2013
National business recovery and insolvency specialist, Harrisons Business Recovery and Insolvency (London) Limited, and Blue Gate Capital Limited have been appointed administrators to Calibre Solicitors Limited (trading as Legal Gateway), a 14-person legal practice based in Eccles, Manchester.
The Manchester legal practice specialised in personal injury claims but forthcoming changes to the funding of personal injury claims and poor trading results in recent months are understood to have caused the business to collapse into administration.
Harrisons’ director Tony Murphy and Blue Gate Capital director Gregory John Mullarkey were appointed Joint Administrators on 8 February 2013 by Justice Capital Limited a Harrow-based lender specialising in the solicitor disbursement funding market.
As a result of the administration process, Wake Smith LLP, a Sheffield-based law firm, has been appointed by the Administrators to ensure that all client files are protected and, where possible, transferred over to them. Wake Smith has been carrying out personal injury work for a number of years.
“It was not feasible for the Administrators to continue to trade the business,” says Tony Murphy. “Regrettably, this has resulted in the closure of the practice and the redundancy of the company’s employees. Our top priority is to ensure that the affairs of the clients are dealt with properly and promptly.”
He continues: “We are confident that we were right in choosing Wake Smith as our agent to ensure the interests of the clients and the assets of the company alike are safeguarded.”
