Manches continues to favour innovators with two new partner promotions to drive strategic growth

14 Jan, 2013

Leading law firm, Manches LLP, announces the appointment of two new partners: Richard Cooke, from the Construction team; and Rebecca Carlyon from the Family team.

Richard Cooke: Richard, who specialises in construction and engineering law, has significant overseas experience, and has worked on some of the world’s largest projects. Before qualifying as a lawyer, Richard’s background was in civil engineering. He is also a key member of the firm’s Sustainability team, where he has advised in relation to renewable energy projects. This has included representing clients in relation to a highly innovative new AD/Biogas project, the first project to receive Green Investment Bank funding.

Rebecca Carlyon: Rebecca is regarded as one of the rising stars of family law. In 2012 Rebecca was shortlisted as Family Law Associate of the Year for the Spear’s Young Turk Awards and again nominated and shortlisted for the Senior Associate of the Year category of the Family Law Awards.

Known for her fresh approach to family law, Rebecca has been involved in a number of high profile cases, including Re: B (Children) [2012] EWCA Civ 1082, one of the first reported Court of Appeal case to focus on the English Court’s jurisdiction under Article 3 of the European Maintenance Regulation, as well as the soon to be reported H v S, where the High Court was successfully persuaded to delegate various issues arising from the end of a marriage to a Jewish religious court.

The promotions follow the appointment of corporate partner, Jonathan Snade, who joined the firm from Pinsent Masons in December last year.

They came into effect on 1 January 2013.
