Jones Day expands European Business Restructuring & Reorganization Practice with new partner Juan Ferré in Spain

The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Juan Ferré has joined the Firm and will lead its Madrid Business Restructuring & Reorganization Practice. Mr. Ferré is a leading bankruptcy lawyer in Spain with more than 15 years of experience in restructuring and insolvency. He arrives at Jones Day from the boutique restructuring firm Pluta in Madrid where he was Partner in Charge.
“As European and Spanish economies continue to face unprecedented financial challenges, Juan’s experience in dealing with complex restructurings will be of immense value to clients with interests in those regions,” said Paul Leake, head of Jones Day’s Business Restructuring & Reorganization Practice. “As our expansion of these representations grows throughout Europe, his work on cross border matters gives us even more depth to help clients facing these issues. He is a terrific addition to our practice.”
Mr. Ferré has been involved in more than 150 domestic and cross-border cases throughout his career and has acted as an insolvency trustee or legal counsel for debtors, directors, and creditors. Prior to joining Jones Day, he was the appointed insolvency administrator in many construction, manufacturing, automotive, hospital, pharmaceutical, and energy cases. He acted as the Spanish secondary insolvency administrator in several cross-border cases. In addition, he has been involved in numerous distressed M&A deals and has acted as legal counsel for significant real estate developers and several international financial institutions.

Mr. Ferré has written extensively on insolvency issues and is a frequent speaker at national and international legal conferences, including those sponsored by the International Insolvency Institute. He is a member of INSOL (Europe and International), the Turnaround Management Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Spanish-German Law Society, and German Bar Association. He is a member of the editorial board of INSOL World and member of the experts group advising the European Commission on the reform of the European Insolvency Regulation. He is also a coordinator and professor of the corporate insolvency master degree program at Universidad San Pablo-CEU and has been an associate professor of business law at Barcelona University.
Mr. Ferré is a graduate of IESE Business School (General Management Program, 2010-2011), Barcelona University (Ph.D. in Law cum laude 2005), and Autonomous University of Barcelona (Law Degree 1996).
