Law firm Thomas Eggar LLP today announces the appointment of a new corporate partner to enhance one of the firm’s key sectors.

The appointment of Keir Barrie, a specialist in private equity, M&A and venture capital matters, will bolster the firm’s existing offering to the financial services sector.

Previously a partner at Farrer & Co., Keir also spent 7 years working in-house at 3i, an international investment company, where he trained in structuring financial packages for MBOs and development capital. His extensive and varied expertise includes advising on a number of high profile deals including acting for buyers and investors on the MBO of Hastings Insurance for £56m, acting for the investors of the MBO of corporate finance house Peel Hunt and the investors of an Italian eAggregator for €600,000.

Based in Thomas Eggar’s London office, Keir will be responsible for developing the firm’s offering across the financial service sector and specifically the funds division covering private equity, venture capital, property and hedge funds. Keir’s experience of working with management teams will also complement the firm’s existing cross sector expertise in this area.

John Riddick, head of Business Services at Thomas Eggar, said: “Keir brings with him years of expertise and knowledge in the financial services sector, which is a perfect match for Thomas Eggar’s continued focus on the sector-led approach nationwide.”

Keir added: “Thomas Eggar has an excellent reputation in the market and a strong client base. This is a great opportunity to build on its track record and I am looking forward to joining a team known not only for their exceptional industry expertise but also their refreshing approach to law.”
