DAC Beachcroft agrees association with McCague Borlack

22 May, 2012

International law firm DAC Beachcroft LLP and Canadian firm McCague Borlack have agreed  to enter into a formal association with effect from 1 May 2012.

The association, which will last initially for two years, will allow DAC Beachcroft and McCague Borlack to jointly service clients with interests in both the London and Canadian insurance markets. Both firms will use one another’s office facilities to complete work for mutual clients while opportunities to second staff between the two firms will also be available.

The agreement, which precedes an intention to integrate the Canadian business fully into the DAC Beachcroft group, will significantly strengthen the market reach of both firms and will enable the provision of a more comprehensive service for major insurer clients.

McCague Borlack is Canada’s leading specialist insurance law firm with over 70 lawyers.  Based in Toronto, it works extensively with London Insurance Market clients, including Kiln Group, Catlin and Argo International.  The firm is also a founding member of the Canadian Litigation Counsel, a network of law firms associated with the Harmonie Group of which DAC Beachcroft is a member.

Commenting, DAC Beachcroft International Senior Partner Danny Gowan said: “We are delighted to have agreed this association with one of Canada’s leading law firms.  We have worked with McCague Borlack for many years and have always been struck by the quality of their lawyers and client base.”

He added: ” This association is an important step in the development of DAC Beachcroft’s global network.  Canada is a key region in which we need to be able to serve our clients, particularly international insurance companies.  We are excited at the prospect of doing so by working with McCague Borlack and look forward to developing our relationship further with them.”

McCague Borlack founding partner Paul MCCague said: “DAC Beachcroft is one of the leading international law firms serving the insurance market and we are delighted that we will be part of the exciting programme of developing their global network.  Many of our clients operate internationally, particularly out of London, and the association will assist us in working with them.”
