BAR COUNCIL PROMOTES UK LAW AT RUSSIAN LEGAL FORUM

The Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, will this week join a large international delegation at the second St Petersburg International Legal Forum, providing an opportunity for members of the Bar to explain the role and relevance of the English legal system around the world
Michael Todd QC, Chairman of the Bar Council (pictured), said: “The fact that many members of the Bar of England and Wales are regularly instructed by Russian clients is a testament to the way in which in which the Bar is renowned internationally for its excellence and integrity.
“As showcased by the Unlocking Disputes campaign, UK legal services contribute significantly to the UK economy, and their continued export abroad is vital to this success.
“This trip offers a chance to strengthen further those commercial links whilst engaging with the process of law reform in Russia. I am proud to be joining a prestigious UK delegation, including the Lord Chancellor, the US Attorney General, the President of the Law Society and a number of international justice ministers, on what will no doubt prove to be a productive and interesting trip.”
