Leading business law firm, DWF, has recruited Douglas Howie (pictured), a highly respected insurance and commercial specialist, as corporate partner in its London office, further strengthening its presence in the city.

Douglas joins from Clyde & Co LLP, which recently merged with Barlow Lyde & Gilbert, where he had been a partner for over 23 years. Douglas has extensive experience in advising insurers, insurance intermediaries and buyers of insurance on transactional, commercial and regulatory matters.

Commenting on his appointment Douglas said: “I am looking forward to building on my broad experience of insurance market related matters in a firm where there is a strong and dedicated focus on the insurance market. What’s more, the team has a strong reputation and frequently scores highly in client satisfaction surveys. In 2011, DWF was ranked 8th amongst UK firms in terms of the number of corporate deals transacted – demonstrating its commitment to providing clients with an outstanding service.”

DWF’s London office, which opened in 2008, has grown to over 100 people, which includes an experienced insurance team. Nationwide, DWF now has over 1,500 people.

Graham Dickinson, Executive Partner for the London office, said “We are committed to providing the highest quality experience tailored to our clients’ needs, and as such, we are continually investing in our team to build on the excellent reputation we have worked hard to achieve.  Having worked with Douglas for many years I have no doubt that he will provide a valuable wealth of knowledge and experience in the insurance sector for the benefit of our clients.”
