He will join Luther as International Counsel on 1 March 2012. He previously worked for Brinkmann & Partner and managed their London office.
Tobias Verlende had been the Head of the London office of the German law firm Brinkmann & Partner since 2009. He specialises in restructuring and insolvency as well as corporate law issues in the international field. Tobias Verlende is a German lawyer (Rechtsanwalt) and also a solicitor in England and Wales.
“We are delighted that Tobias Verlende is joining Luther to head up our new London office as he knows the market well and has an excellent network of international investors who are based in London,” said Dr Markus Schackmann, Head of Luther’s M&A practice area in Germany. Together with Luther’s partner Dr Julia Petersen, Schackmann will support the London office from Germany.
“With Tobias Verlende, Luther will have a permanent representative in the British capital,” added Prof Hans-Georg Hahn, one of Luther’s Managing Partners. “Opening an office in London is a further step in implementing our strategy towards having an international presence. Alongside Singapore, Shanghai, Luxembourg and Frankfurt, Luther now has its own office in another important financial hub in Asia and Europe.” With its London office, Luther plans to extend above all its advisory services in the M&A and Banking & Finance areas. The target audience of the London office is both German and international clients from the London finance sector. Luther’s new office is based in the City.
