London Law Firm Halebury Boosts Specialist Team

Leading law firm Halebury has increased its team of specialist lawyers to 14 with the appointment of a senior media legal practitioner.


London–based Halebury has added highly experienced digital media, TV, film, theatre, music lawyer and legal and business affairs consultant Susan Morris to its growing team.


Before joining Halebury, Susan was self-employed as a media legal and business affairs consultant for 13 years. She provided legal and business affairs advice to high profile media and entertainment companies, including The Walt Disney Company and the Royal Opera House.


Susan worked as Head of Legal and Business Affairs for a number of leading TV production companies, as part of her consultancy. These included Wall to Wall Television Limited and Southern Star Circle Plc. (part of Southern Star Group – Australia). Her work for TV production companies has included advice on corporate strategy as well as revising company standard form agreements.


Prior to running her own consultancy, Susan’s legal work included both private practice and industry roles. She worked as a media lawyer for The Simkins Partnership, a leading media law firm, for four years. She worked for The Walt Disney Company – Europe for two years.


Susan worked as an intellectual property litigation specialist for Manches and Co., a leading commercial law firm, for three years. She successfully litigated and mediated many disputes, including those involving national and international law relating to copyright, design right, trademarks, passing off, patents, moral rights, licensing and broadcasting, issues.


As a media and intellectual property specialist, Susan has significant experience in auditing and reviewing intellectual property rights owned by clients. She advises clients on their existing intellectual property, media and distribution rights in product, with a view to clients exploiting their rights in product, in current media, including in particular, DVD and audio formats.


Susan was a Director of trade association, Women In Film and Television UK, for four years. During the last 17 years, she has also produced and chaired a number of media industry seminars, dealing with media issues.


Halebury is a leading London-based practice specialising in areas of law including technology, media, telecoms, sport, employment and corporate. The business is led by directors Denise Nurse and Janvi Patel, who launched Halebury in 2007.


Susan’s appointment brings Halebury’s team of lawyers to 14 – formerly from City and in-house teams – acting as self-employed specialist consultants in areas of law including technology, media, telecoms, sport, employment and corporate.


Halebury’s clients include BSkyB, Nike, Enterprise Rent a Car, three times Olympic gold medal winning yachtsman Ben Ainslie and leading golf professional Rory McIlroy who won his first Major by taking the US Open title in June last year.
