Gillespie Macandrew, the Edinburgh-based law firm which specialises in land and property, private client and various commercial sectors, has announced its intention of opening an office in Perth in the near future.

Ian Turnbull, Managing Partner of Gillespie Macandrew, comments: “We have been considering a number of options of how we will move the firm forward and expand our offering, and one of the routes that we have settled upon is to open an office in Perth. We already have a significant number of clients located in Perthshire, Angus and further north, including sporting estates, the full spectrum of arable, dairy, beef, sheep and mixed farms, and a range of commercial operations and private individuals.

“We also have lawyers who live in Perthshire and who are already well integrated into the business and social communities. Alistair Anderson, for example, is one of our partners and he practiced in Perthshire for 20 years prior to joining Gillespie Macandrew. Such local knowledge, combined with our existing client portfolio, provides us with the essential critical mass that enables us to make this move, confident that we will be able to add new clients as the Perth-based team develops.”

Alistair Anderson adds: “I am sure that our existing clients north of the Forth will welcome this move. It will not only make access for personal meetings easier than travelling down to Edinburgh, but importantly, we will have the broad capabilities of  the firm’s resources and personnel ‘on tap’ for our Perth office clients. Not least of these are our specialist skills in land and rural business, a sector of increasing importance to the economy of the whole country.

“Land and rural business work needs lawyers who can advise a client ’in the round‘, remembering how a decision on one matter impacts across a client’s personal and business affairs – this is just one example of the level of service we will provide.”

Ian Turnbull concludes: “We are currently in final discussions about our new office location and as soon as this is agreed we will issue the details to all relevant parties. However, I feel it is important to let our clients and contacts in Perthshire, Kinross and Angus, along with our staff, know that this move is imminent.”
