Npower fined £2m by Ofgem for mishandling complaints

Npower has been fined £2million by Ofgem for the way it has handled complaints from its customers.

The energy regulator said that the power supplier had failed to properly record complaints, or given complainers the details of the Energy Ombudsman’s redress service, according to the BBC.

According to the BBC, an Npower spokesman said: “We are very sorry; we let our high standards slip on this occasion.

“A small number of processes were not correctly adhered to. We have zero tolerance for this type of issue and we’ll continue to work hard to make sure our customers are put first.”

However, Npower has since rectified all of the breaches of the regulations it was charged with.
