Apple did not violate graphic patents owned by HTC unit, S3 Graphics, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) has ruled.

S3, an image compression technology manufacturer, accused Apple of infringing patents used in several Apple products, and filed the complaint in May last with the ITC, a body with the power to block products being imported into the US that may infringe patents.

The ITC has said that this investigation, the latest development in a string of patent disputes involving the iPad maker, has been terminated – a decision which overturns the Commission’s July ruling that Apple had indeed infringed some of the patents.
