DWF Expands Asset Finance Team With New Hires
National law firm, DWF, has expanded its asset and consumer finance offering to include a new Finance Regulation team in Birmingham. This follows a number of new appointments, including that of Joanne Davis, a leading industry figure and former head of Shoosmiths’ asset finance division. Joanne will head up DWF’s new Birmingham consumer and asset based finance operation.
The new office, based at Colmore Plaza, Queensway, Birmingham, opened this week.
Joanne is joined by a team of lawyers from Shoosmiths, which include Daksha Mistry as a Legal Director, Natalie Evans as an Associate and a number of other lawyers working in support. The team has also been strengthened by the appointment of motor finance recovery expert, Lindsey Summers, from law firm, BPE. The new recruits will be working closely with DWF’s already well-established Asset Finance team, which operates on a national basis from offices in Manchester, Leeds, London and Birmingham. They will be supporting a diverse range of high calibre clients across the UK, including Lloyds Banking Group, Carlyle Finance, Santander and Metro Bank.
The team provides a full range of services UK-wide to the banking, asset and motor based lending industry offering a full menu of services from transactional, wholesale dealer funding, regulatory, financial services through to collections, recoveries, litigation and dispute resolution, as well as claims and disputes brought against their clients.
The Asset Finance team is also actively involved in implementing legislative changes required by the introduction of the Consumer Credit Directive, and has considerable experience of dealing with the regulatory environment under both the Office of Fair Trading and the Financial Services Authority.
Joanne Davis, Head of the Asset and Consumer Finance team in Birmingham, commented: “DWF has an established reputation for providing expert advice in this sector, and has just been shortlisted for the prestigious ‘Asset Finance Team of the Year’ award for Leasing Life, so it’s a really exciting time to be joining the company. I’ve been working in asset finance for 18 years and looking forward to building on DWF’s excellent services standing in the banking and finance market.”
The Banking and Finance Group at DWF is headed up nationally by Legal 500 recommended partner Andrew Gregory, who oversaw a growth of 16 per cent for the practice group last year. Andrew Gregory comented: “I am delighted that Joanne and her team have decided to join our firm, this is an important acquisition for our Lender Services operation and will assist our Banking and Finance Group’s strategy to become one of the leading national law firms in all aspects of asset based lending.
