Employment is a major feature of most people’s lives; it’s our livelihood and the place where we spend the majority of our time. Regulations surrounding employment and labor are there to protect both employers and employees, and strive to create a situation that is fair and mutually beneficial for both parties. Of course, labor and employment laws vary around the world, and the US in particular appears to be undergoing several legislative changes regarding employment currently. This month, Lawyer Monthly’s Claire Middleton spoke exclusively to Chicago-based partner, Andrew Boling and Chicago and San Diego-based partner, Brian Arbetter about the current legislative framework that regulates employment law in the US, taking a look at issues such as the Dodd Frank and Sarbanes Oxley statutes.
