Graf von Westphalen opens office in Istanbul

German law firm,Graf von Westphalen, has announced it will open an office in Istanbul, in October. The new office means that the Firm is one of the few independent German law firms with a presence in this increasingly important business location.

“Turkey is Europe’s fastest growing economic region and is gaining as a hub between Europe, Central Asia and the Arabian Peninsula in importance,” said Christof Kleinmann, one of two managing partners of Graf von Westphalen. “Turkey is one of Germany’s three main trading partners and is facing an unprecedented wave of infrastructure projects and privatizations ahead of the centennial anniversary of the state in 2023. We are one of more than 2,400 German companies investing in Turkey.”

After several months of intense market soundings and discussions with a number of suitable partners, Graf von Westphalen has decided to work with GSI Meridian, a full-service law firm with more than 45 lawyers. “The joint venture with Meridian GSI will allow us to open the Turkish market with a high-class partner for us and our clients,” said Dr. Robert Theissen (pictured), the other managing partner.  He adds: “We want to repeat the success story of our office openings in Shanghai three years ago. Because of this experience and because of our excellent partner, GSI Meridian, we are very confident that this will soon happen. In addition to excellent rankings, GSI has excellent contacts with leading companies in Turkey, as well as companies from the United Arab Emirates and other dynamic economies in the region, which are also very attractive for Graf von Westphalen.”
