HTC to appeal against Apple patent ruling

HTC, the Taiwan-based phone-maker has vowed to appeal against a US ruling that it was guilty of infringing two patents belonging to iPhone company, Apple.

If the US International Trade Commission’s ruling is not dropped, an import ban on some HTC phones may be implemented by the US.

The US trade commission ruled on Friday July 15 that HTC had violated two Apple patents in its mobile phones which are based on the Android operating system, however, Apple had filed an infringement complaint against HTC for eight additional patents.

HTC maintains that it’s innocence with regard to the alleged violations, and said that it was confident that its case for appeal is a strong one.

These findings are preliminary however, and are subject to review. A final decision is due on December 6.
