White & Case Re-elects Hugh Verrier as Chair
13 Jun, 2011
Global law firm White & Case LLP announced on June 9 that Hugh Verrier was re-elected Chair of the Firm by the partnership. Verrier ran unopposed in his bid for a second four-year term.
In his first term as Chair, Verrier led a strategic review of the Firm, resulting in a reorganization aimed at improving global integration and collaboration.
“We are building a truly global law firm, with a clear global strategy and a one-firm culture,” said Verrier. “To meet our clients’ needs, we need to deliver our services more efficiently, drawing on the resources around the world that best serve our clients.”
The Firm’s election process will continue to the next stage – the election of an eight-member Partnership Committee, whose members serve on the Compensation Committee and the New Partners Committee. Following the election of the Partnership Committee, Verrier will appoint the Firm’s Executive Committee.
Hugh Verrier was elected to his first term as Chair of White & Case in August 2007. A project finance lawyer, Verrier was a member of the Firm’s management board from 2004-2007. Over the course of his nearly 30-year career at White & Case, he worked in the Firm’s offices in New York, Indonesia, Turkey and Russia. A Canadian, Verrier received his B.A. from Université de Montréal, an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa, and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School. He is a New York-qualified lawyer.
