Competition Commission India (CCI) takes a look at Apple iPads, iPhones

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has registered a complaint against software giant, Apple, for an allegedly abusing its dominant position. It is accused of doing this by only making its products available through limited service providers.

According to Legally India, a consumer placed a complaint under section 4 of the Competition Act claiming that Apple confined distribution of the iPhone and iPad devices to few service providers other than its authorised dealers.

A senior CCI official said that the complainant had also objected to Apple making its software available to users only from its Apple-branded iStores.

The complaint would be taken up for hearing this week.
