UK Competition Regime Reforms on the Horizon

This month, the Government announced a far-reaching consultation on reforms to the UK competition regime. Caroline Thomas, lawyer in the Antitrust, Competition and Regulatory team at international legal practice Norton Rose LLP, has commented on the consultation. She said: “Theconsultation is extensive. While the main thrust is as expected (proposals to merge the OFT andCC), the Government has taken the opportunity to conduct a full review of almost all aspects of the way the competition regime works in the UK, including are view of the scope of the criminal cartel offence.”
