Apple sues Samsung for 'copying' iPhones and iPad

Korean electronics giant, Samsung, is being sued by rival Apple for alleged copying of the ‘IPad’ and ‘IPhone’ designs in Samsung’s ‘Galaxy’ range of phones and tablets.

Apple claims that Samsung’s products have ‘slavishly’ copied the design of their famous products. The claims are focused on the aesthetics of the Samsung products, such as the look of the screen icons.

The lawsuit, which was filed on Friday 15th April, claims that Samsung has violated patent regulations, a claim which Samsung has confirmed it is contesting.

Apple spokeswoman, Kristin Huguet, said in a statement: “This kind of blatant copying is wrong.” However, a spokesman from Samsung said in a statement that its products are a result of research and development, stating: “Samsung’s development of core technologies and strengthening our intellectual property portfolio are keys to our continued success.”
