Wife of German defence minister in legal row over TV programme that outs paedophiles

Stephanie Zu Guttenberg has been on the brunt of harsh criticisms after fronting a TV programme aimed at outing internet paedophiles.
Mrs Zu Guttenberg, wife of Karl-Theodor Zu Guttenberg the German Defence Minister, is now facing legal charges after one of the show’s targets, a 61 year old, youth centre manager went on the run after being exposed as a child molesting suspect.
Justice Minister, Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger, feels that the show could encourage violent and vigilante behaviour. She said: “Particular caution and restraint are required here.”
“There is the danger that innocents will be pilloried and damage caused, and the rule of law thrown out of balance. That is a high risk. The rule of law does not need public naming and shaming.
We have to take care that there is no pre-judgment before the justice system investigates. Our justice is extremely precious and we should preserve it.”
